Sensormatic Tags

Sensormatic Tags are small adhesive anti-theft devices that are commonly used in retail stores to counteract shoplifting. A tag can be adhered inside a CD or DVD case, which will trigger an alarm if the CD or DVD is carried out of the store without the tag being deactivated.

If you've ever heard an alarm go off at the entrance of a retail store, chances are it was a Sensormatic Tag triggering the alarm system. When you take the product to the check-out counter and have paid for it, the Sensormatic Tag within the product is deactivated by the cashier or clerk.
