Proofing
Options: We Provide THREE Proofing Options
OPTION
"A" - ELECTRONIC PROOFS
You send us
electronic files of your artwork using our templates and we
generate PDF proofs within two business days. Once you approve the
proofs in writing (by return e-mail is accepted) we proceed with
the production of your order.
If you are confident that your scans/images are color/resolution
accurate this proofing method is the most cost-effective and
provides the quickest means of getting your order into production.
Note: PDFs are not infallible!
- Cost: One
round of electronic proofs are included in your quoted price.
- After
receiving your proofs, requests for design modifications will
be quoted on a case by case basis. Image manipulation (color
corrections) are extra.
- The PDF
proofs are for checking general layout and composition only.
They are not to be used to verify color.

*WARRANTY:
Proof Option "A"
Electronic Proofs |
Warranty
for Electronic Proofs exists for layout and composition
only. This means placement and alignment of text and
images. There is no color warranty provided for
electronic proofs. If color accuracy is a concern you must
select Proof Option "B" - Hard Copy Proofs. |
OPTION
"B" - HARD COPY PROOFS You
send us electronic files of your artwork using our templates and
we generate PDF proofs within two business days. Once you approve
the PDF proofs in writing (by return e-mail is accepted) we
proceed with production of a calibrated (digital) hard-copy
printed proof. Allow up to 2 business days for the hard-copy
proofs to be printed and shipped.
- Cost:
$50.00 per set.
- After
receiving your Hard-Copy Proofs, requests for design
modifications will be quoted on a case by case basis. Each
additional set of Hard-Copy Proofs incurs a new $50.00 charge
per set.
- Hard-Copy
Proofs are for checking general layout, composition and color
accuracy (plus-or-minus 5% color variance).
*WARRANTY:
Proof Option "B"
Hard-Copy Proofs |
Warranty
for Hard-Copy proofs exists for layout, composition and
color accuracy (plus-or-minus 5% variance). |
OPTION
"C" - PRE-APPROVED FILES - NO PROOFS
You send us electronic files using our templates and we generate
printing plates and move straight to production. If you are
confident that your files meet specification and do not require
proofs, this is the fastest way to get into production. Printing
plates made as soon as files pass preflight.
- Cost:
Pre-flight of your files is included in your quotation -
there is no charge and no discount for not having
proofs generated.
- Please
also keep in mind that if your files are not ready to run to
plates, you will be notified by an email HOLD message and
preflight report. The issues must be addressed and resolved
before plates can be made. We will send you a PDF file as an
opportunity to see your files, however, the plates are made
at the same time so if you need to change the artwork
additional plate charges will apply. You must also respond
immediately if there are any issues with the reference PDF
proofs because completion of the printing plates means your
order is ready for and going to production!
*WARRANTY:
Proof Option "C"
No Proofs |
Proceeding
with No Proofs means there is NO WARRANTY for
layout, composition or color accuracy. |

CDman
uses 'gang run' printing for our printed paper inserts,
custom printed sleeves and mailers and Digipak - this means
that several orders are 'ganged up' onto the same print run
to divide up the cost of the run between the different
orders. To 'gang run' is an industry standard to make small
print orders affordable - in the commercial printing world
quantities of less than 10,000 are considered small.
Gang-Running
Print Makes It Affordable - But What Is The Downside?
For
'gang run' printing, the calibration of a print press is
tuned to a standardized SWOP (Standard Web Offset Printer)
color gamut to produce the best overall color balance. This
means that the one color setting will apply to
every order on the print run. The result is
that no 'tweaking' of color can be performed for just one
order, because every other order on the run will also be
affected. Due to this, CDman reserves the right to a
plus-or-minus 5% color variance on all print products. The
only alternative is to have your order run on its own
press-sheet which will dramatically increase the cost
- contact us for a custom quotation.
